i’m home!
flagstaff. grand canyon. sedona. back in la.
the grand chasm is so huge. i can’t even wrap my head around it. it’s wider, longer, and deeper than i can understand, haha. i got to do a bit of hiking. at 7000+ ft above sea level, the elevation really did affect my breathing, which was strange to me. and the rocks really did change color at different times of the day. man, sunset and sunrise are magical. and it seemed like the entire world was there, especially the french speaking part of it! i think the most memorable part of the trip was stumbling upon a worship service and singing hymns into the canyon.
i also drove down to sedona, which is red rock country. it’s got this quaint little tourist trap of downtown. but more impressive are the mountains surrounding it. apparently, it’s got the only kind of rock layer that isn’t found in the grand canyon. pretty surreal place.. like martian soil. waay too hot to hike there though.
anywho, it was beautiful. it felt like america, haha. if that makes any sense.
if we’re friends on flickr, you can see the rest of my selects from the trip.
